Parishioners have the opportunity to support our Haiti Sponsorship Program. This program supports the educational costs for students at St. John the Baptist School in Dos Palais. Sponsorship covers tuition, books, supplies and a hot lunch each day throughout the school year for more than 400 students.
New this year, St. John the Baptist has added a secondary school so that students can attend secondary school at their home parish. This is a great opportunity for our primary students to continue their education in Dos Palais!
You can also help sponsor the school nurse, who works each day to insure the health of the students.
We thank all of the parishioners who have supported this ministry, which has made such a difference in the lives of the children of Dos Palais. We now have three young men, former students in the first class of the new school, attending minor seminary in Haiti. Additionally, secondary school is now part of the curriculum in our parish school. These accomplishments are made possible only becaue of the generosity of our parishioners. As Fr. Elizier has often repeated, "thank you, thank you, thank you."
Each year, Saint Michael travels to Ste. Jean Baptiste Parish, our twinned parish in Dos Palais. Normally, there is room for 6 people on each trip. Wee see ourselves as pilgrims making a pilgrimage to a sacred place, where we have the opportunity to share our faith and friendship with the villagers in Dos Palais.
In 2016-17, trips will take place from November 8-15 and from February 14-21. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Dan Burns (firstname.lastname@example.org). Application is below.
