Parish News

Funeral for Austin Hemmer

A mass of Christian Burial will be held for Austin Hemmer on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM. A short reception will follow the Mass.

God at Work

On May 1, the kitchens will close for about 6 weeks for renovation. On May 20, the Parish Hall will close down for about 4 weeks (less we hope!)for a facelift--new carpet, paint, and some electrical work.
Construction on the education wing is going smoothly. Work is actually ahead of schedule. In the next few weeks we will be able to give tours after masses so you can see how things have changed!

From The Pastor

            Happy Pentecost!

            Congratulations First Communicants!

            Congratulations Graduates!

            I’m sure I’m forgetting something!?

When I served in the Peace Corps in Ghana, West Africa, I was call Kwasi – because I was born on a Sunday.  Every boy and girl become known by a name that indicates the day they were born (I think the name was Akosua for a girl born on Sunday).

Interestingly, ALL Europeans or Americans, are called Kwasi by Ghanaians.  The reason is that the first Europeans they met in something other than the slave trade, were missionaries and they assumed we were born on Sundays since we always were celebrating on Sundays.

Indeed, celebrating is very important aspect of our faith.  Celebrating all stages of life from birth to death is part of the way we visibly witness to our faith.  So today we come together because there IS so much to celebrate.  Let us rejoice together in our many celebrations and open our hearts to the gift of the Holy Spirit!

Peace & Love,
Fr. Dan
