The Rummage Sale is now history! I want to thank all the volunteers who helped in many ways, the people who made donations, AND the people who bought. I know this is a tremendous fundraiser, but for me, the best part of it is the community experience. Centered around this “task,” we hang out with each other—yes, I know there is lots of work—but the fellowship, the laughing, the craziness of sorting, and, of course, the funds raised for a cause near to our heart.
Fr. Elizier is here with us this weekend, and that is always very special. He is such a gracious host to us when we are there in Dos Palais. It is a pleasure to be able to return the favor! We will be sending groups to Haiti in November and February. I strongly urge you to consider joining one of the trips. Seeing the community of Dos Palais and St. John the Baptist Parish really is a powerful experience, especially for those of us who have grown up in the U.S. and have not gone to a third world country before. It is amazing to experience the warmth of the welcome in Dos Palais and to see what our two communities have accomplished together.
Byenveni Pè Elizier! Nou tout nou kontan anpil pou nou wè ou ankò!
(Welcome Fr. Elizier! We are all very happy to see you again!)
