The invitation will surely come At his holy will and time In unknown manner and place Of his choosing, not of mine
It’s blessed arrival long awaited Anticipated and long so planned Yet its timing will always surprise Like awaking in a foreign land
For so long now have I prepared And readied myself as I’m able For the arrival of blessed invitation To come, take a seat at his table
At its arrival I will certainly rejoice To have received the awaited call To come in hope that I may enter To join in celebration with all
Approaching the door I will pause Excited to enter and recline Anxiously readying to knock And be welcomed by name to dine
But before I knock I so must pray That he open it to my name As many are invited so to come But not all who are called can remain
I pray that I have well prepared To accept and answer his call So that when I finally knock My name he will lovingly recall
Dear Jesus I pray to humbly receive The call you will send to me And pray that I be so prepared With clean garment and soul That at my knock at your door You will lovingly say to me Enter my good and faithful friend A heavenly seat at my table Is right here, reserved for thee
