First and foremost, if you are sick with the flu, a cold, or stomach virus, stay home. Get lots of rest, and drink lots of fluids! The obligation of Sunday Mass is one of
love. Sickness is a valid reason for missing Mass and lifts that obligation. If you, nonetheless, feel guilty, then watch Mass on TV or look at the readings for the day (if you are comfortable with a computer or smartphone, just read
USCCB Daily Readings.
If you are not sure if you are sick or you are just recovering, be aware and do not shake hands at the sign of peace or hold hands during the
Our Father. If someone around you is exhibiting this behavior, SMILE at them, nod, and allow them this privacy. Reception of the Eucharist is most germ free in the hands NOT on the tongue and refrain from the cup if there is any question. Let us show our love by helping each other stay healthy.
And remember, the youngest and the oldest are most vulnerable, so get the shots if you can and let us be kind and loving to each other.
