I wanted to mention a series of sessions I will be leading considering the life, death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ in the cinema:
Following Christmas, we will look at the movie
The Young Messiah (2016)
. This film considers a year in the life of Jesus, around age 7 or 8. What was the experience of Jesus as a child? And those around him? This will be January 14 & 16 and January 21 & 23 (Mondays at 7 PM and Wednesdays at 9:15 AM).
During the Lenten season we will look at Jesus’ earthly ministry as presented in the
mini-series
Jesus (1999). This was a slightly different look at the person of Jesus and the times in which He ministered. This will run for four weeks, starting the week of March 11.
Finally, during the Easter season, we will look at the movie
Risen (2016). This is another interesting perspective of the Resurrected Jesus, His disciples and the world around them. These sessions are planned for two weeks (May 6 & 8 and May 13 & 15).
Obviously, the Bible will be an important resource and touchstone, but we will also be considering other materials. Come join us for interesting cinema and discussions!
