It is hard to believe that this Sunday is only the second one to be celebrated without a congregation. Less than two weeks ago, Fr. Paul celebrated the last Mass with people from the parish present (though sitting far apart). It feels so much longer.
I miss seeing you all so very much. And I know you all miss each other. But we must all remember that we are not just doing this to follow rules, but to act as Christ would have us do—to keep each other and people we may not even know safe. One of the most frustrating things is that we may never know WHOSE life we are saving by hunkering down in our homes and keeping socially distant (now there is a phrase most of us never knew before this crisis).
But the smaller our chance of catching COVID-19, the smaller our chance of passing it on to someone else. This virus is at least twice as contagious as the ordinary flu. So, let us keep at it with Christ in mind. Let us call each other on the phone. Let us keep good humor when we have to go out. And let us pray for each other, especially those putting themselves in harm’s way.
And we will stay in touch and online…and praying for you always!
