I wanted to bring to your attention some recent changes in our staffing. As many already know, JP Callan who has worked in overseeing our building operations, shared many gifts with us. He ceased being on the payroll as of the middle of August. He has been around helping still, but now only on a volunteer basis. This works better for him with his current personal demands. We will miss him. His position is an important one, and we will be moving to fill it in the near future.
Last month Karen Hannon left us after many years of faithful service (in the truest sense, a service full of faith!). Deacon David Nemetz will be taking over the position as Director of Human Concerns. Deacon Dave is excited to move into this area since Pastoral Care and Human Concerns are different sides of the same “coin” of being pastoral to our own and to others. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be an active participant in this kind of ministry, as well. At the moment, there is also an endowed position working with David for support of Human Concerns ministries, filled by Magda Schultheis.
Jo Rohr (Parish Community Life) left us back in February and we are doing our best to continue coordinating fellowship events while we consider the best way to support such events. Our new Lake House will provide us with new challenges in this area, so we will continue looking at this.
Mary Sue McClintock has joined our staff as Director of Evangelization and will be there in support of our many interests and ministries. Her background in marketing will be of tremendous help in “getting out the message.” Many people have already been taking advantage of her gifts to enrich our ministries.
Other changes have been a shifting of responsibilities—e.g. Lani Vasquez doing communications (bulletin, website, and Flocknotes) and calendaring; and Chris Burns dealing with census, sacramental records, and orders of worship. These changes have been very “organic” in many ways, as God has continued to put people in our path of ministry. I am very excited with this newest configuration of our staff, as it opens many new possibilities of ministry and service.
