The Building Security Ministry is one of the unsung St. Michael ministries. A group of about 15-20 volunteers take responsibility for locking the church building each night and opening it up each morning, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Like the U.S. Postal Service, neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow will keep them from their appointed rounds. When I first arrived at St. Michael as Director of Administration, Wally Turnage had been coordinating the ministry for many years. He passed the baton to Scott Guy, who graciously coordinated the ministry until about 2012, when he turned over the reins to Mark Gill. As those before him, Mark has faithfully taken care of scheduling the ministers, answering the phone when the alarm monitoring company calls in the middle of the night, and meeting the Henrico police when they have been dispatched after an alarm. Mark is now stepping down as coordinator, and Steve Anderson has agreed to take his place. I want to thank them and all the members of this important ministry: Duncan Abernathy, Steve Anderson, Bobby Baughan, Dan Blankenship, Stephanie Brown, JP Callan, Ricky Cesar, Jeff Fisher, Mark Gill, Scott Guy, Tom Hackenburg, John Hoang, Doc Kildare, Mark Law,Trey Lyell, Patrick MacClenahan, Bob Polito, Kirthi Ravi, Leonard Volpe, and Bill Wilson. When you see any of these folks, make sure to tell them how much you appreciate their service!
