Go forth now he says to us this day To preach repentance and his love Yet I’m not sure that I can, nor know how I too am weak and I too a sinner Yet to an unbelieving world he sends us now
Do I believe all he has taught All he has shown us by his words and his signs Do I believe enough to do as he commands On my own, in the world, apart from him To do what he alone has done, to be his hands
Yet we’re not alone but sent two by two To support and to help each other through On a journey to people and places unknown To some who may not accept nor believe To places where only anger will be shown
With resolve we must go without doubt or fear Knowing we must fully have faith in him And be committed to believe and to trust Becoming a channel for the power of his love Bringing His teachings to the world, we must
Help us to go, free of all that distracts Beyond all things of this world On which we have grown to depend And open ourselves totally to him May his grace upon us descend
He gives us a power we do not understand Strength to heal and to drive out demons The power to cure and to forgive even sin Strength that only his grace can provide Through us and our hands to pass within
Dear Jesus, As I go forth from your table Give me the strength of your love A love which can bless all things A love which can do all things A love which can help me to forgive Those known and strangers alike And bring you to the world in which I live
