Sponsor a StudentThe Haiti Sponsorship Program supports the educational costs for students at St. Jean Baptiste School in Dos Palais. One hundred percent of the sponsorship funds go directly to the school to cover teachers' salaries, supplies, and a hot lunch of rice and beans each day throughout the school year for every student. With all of the current unrest in the cities of Haiti, many families have returned to life in the smaller villages for safety. As a result, primary and secondary school enrollment at St. Jean Baptiste is now 500+ students.
There are many different ways you can support the sponsorship program:- Sponsor a a primary student for $135 for the entire school year.
- Sponsor a secondary student for $185 for the year.
- Contribute towards the school nurse, who works each day to ensure the health of the students.
- Contribute to the scholarship fund for one of our graduates that is fortunate enough to earn a coveted scholarship to continue studying in university.
We have now kicked off our 2025 student sponsorship campaign. If you sponsored last year, you will be getting a note in the mail with updated photos of your student(s), if they are still in school this year. If you are new to sponsorship and would like to support education in the village of Dos Palais, follow the below process to sponsor a student and/or contribute to our Scholarship Fund. You can help reach our goals of sponsoring all the primary and secondary students at St. Jean Baptiste and sending at least 3 of the top graduates to university each school year. Thank you! -

Haiti Scholarship Fund
In 2022, a parishioner inquired about how they could help a graduate continue their education. Their desire to make a difference and generous donation, enabled our first two students to attend university and laid the foundation for the Haiti Scholarship Fund. Through the support of this program by many generous parishioners, we have 12 students at university for the 2024-2025 school year -- 6 studying primary education, 5 nursing, and 1 medical. Each scholarship recipient signs a covenant with St. Jean Baptiste to "give back" to the village in some way for 2 years after completing college. Our goal is to be able to offer 3 new scholarships each year to the top students in the graduating class. As one of our scholarship fund supporters stated: "To be able to change the trajectory of someone’s life with so little relative effort and money is a rare opportunity."
