This gospel reflection is based on Luke 6:17, 20-26.
Blessed
How, dear Lord, am I to live In a world so full of those in need Without means or ways of worldly support And yet still be assured of your kingdom Where body and soul doth fully feed
How, dear Lord, am I to live In a world where others strain to thrive Where crumbs are a rare and precious gift And simple taste has turned to longing So many strain each day to stay alive
How, dear Lord, am I to happily live When sadness fills all the while When no guiding light can be seen And no worldly joy can be found Can I bring a warmth, a smile
How, dear Lord, am I to live When I am denounced and cast away And just saying your name brings such ire Where such rejection weighs me down And assaults my will even as I pray
Yet I know your peace and care fills us For joy and happiness are your love For lasting peace and fullness await Completion and joy will truly come When we join in grace with you above
Dear Jesus, I pray for myself and all who may be Seduced by worldly things Inflated by false abundance Joyful or look away from others’ woe And are filled with prideful thoughts May I always, and in all ways Keep my eyes fixed on you In all I say and in all I do
