His words burn like a holy fire Attracting all who clamor to come near The crowd gathering and pressing on Moving ever closer, straining to hear
For this Jesus, he has the words Awaited by so many, for so very long Speaking of promises from ages foretold Passed down both in word and in song
Yet just now his fishermen disciples’ call As the massing crowd clamors to hear As from the barque now he speaks of love And of promise fulfillment that now is here
As they pull away with slightest farewell His fishermen set course for the evening sail Coursing with sadness at their daily catch Longing and empty after day’s long travail
Yet this Jesus calls to his fishermen friends To cast once more with him on board And with such doubt they throw again Yet pull up just now an incredible hoard
Such power ne’re till now had shown Which commands the creatures of the sea Bringing forth plenty where there was none Astounding for all their dazzled eyes to see
This Jesus the Nazarene knew them all Revealing truth with his word and his power And without a pause they followed his call On that very same day and hour
Dear Jesus, I long to be close to you Be at my side, as my guide so true As I sail out into life’s troubled waters With prayer for safety and guidance true
I venture into turbulent waters of worry To cast my nets, to spread the good news To reach the depths of faith and hope And pull others in need back to you
