Oft at times my passions drift to left or right
As worldly pressures push and pull
To obviate a polar mindset
Toward people and passions
Toward beliefs and purpose driven thought
Forcing me to decide on which edge
Pulling and pushing me for commitment
To journey wholly to the extremes
Of unrelenting polarization
Yet while choosing the ramps to service
To my brothers and sisters and country
I am reminded by the One Who is Love
To always keep true to the Center of all
To the One, for and by whom my life exists
Who calls me always to work forward
Resolving all toward rightful commitment
By embracing Your presence and love
And to Center all things on You
While not neglecting responsibilities
Help me to support, nurture and protect
The rights and obligations toward my neighbor
While I weather the constant challenge
To move away from You and serving on the edges.
Help me to position all under Your peace and love
To resist the non-loving extremes of “either / or”
And embrace a life, a love, a faith of “also/and”
Help me dear Jesus to always Center
My thoughts and words and deeds
On Your love, above all
