The cold wintery weather is upon us! If you do not believe me, just ask Fr. Paul! It is time to remind ourselves that we come to Church to share God’s love with each other, not His delightful microscopic creatures! The CDC Influenza Map is up and running.
First and foremost, if you are sick with the flu, a cold, or stomach virus, stay home, get lots of rest, and drink lots of fluids! The obligation of Sunday Mass is one of love.
Sickness is a valid reason for missing Mass and lifts that obligation. If you are feeling really guilty, then watch Mass on TV or look at the readings for the day. If you are
comfortable with a computer or smartphone, just go to
USCCB Daily Readings.
If you are not sure or are just recovering, be aware and do not shake hands at the Sign of Peace or hold hands during the Our Father. Reception of the Eucharist is most germ free in the hands, not on the tongue. And refrain from the cup, if there is any question. If someone around you is exhibiting this behavior, SMILE at them, nod, and allow him this privacy. It may keep you healthy!
And remember the youngest and the oldest are most vulnerable, so get the flu shots if you can, and let us be kind and loving to each other.
