Lent is upon us, and we always seem to need to be reminded about the rules of Fasting and Abstinence. Fasting is cutting down the amount of food we eat. Fasting is encouraged for people between the ages of 14 and 65; the total daily food intake should be that of two meals. For example, a full breakfast and smaller lunch and supper. Fasting is supposed to take place on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Abstinence means avoiding meat. The Days for Abstinence are Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent.
And a reminder that we are introducing weekday Masses on Tuesdays and Fridays during this Lent. Remember, also, that we will continue the Tuesday and Friday Masses after Lent with a different schedule.
Our first Mass under this new schedule will be will be on Friday, February 28, at 7:30 AM. This means that on weekdays (except in Holy Week, when the schedule is always a bit different) the Mass schedule will be:
In Lent Monday |12:15 PM Tuesday | 7:30 AM Wednesday | 8:30 AM Thursday | 12:15 PM Friday | 7:30 AM
