Mission
To find, to announce, and prepare Sending us all now forth to see To distant towns yet unknown For soon his presence will come to be
We proudly announce the good news Of the One of God who has come The arrival of this Son of Man In whom we all so now believe For truly salvation is at his hand
We now go forth each with one Carrying nothing with us but trust Seeking only one place to stay Telling all we meet of his coming To prepare and make straight the way
Not knowing where or how to go We travel on, one with another Knowing that he will provide Bearing only peace and word Carrying only trust at our side
Without lodging or food assured Only wearing these few light clothes Staying with those whose yes we hear Who have become our newest friends Whose meal we accept without fear
Yet we know there are to be haters And departing from those we must Moving on to where it is right And placing our feet forward again Soon new places come in sight
As we have spoken his holy name Both arms and fists have been shown Our mission now has become so clear To bravely prepare the way we go Spreading the Word far and near
With both mistrust and gentle grace Announcing the news to all We prepare now and here, his way Bringing soon his wondrous word Arranging for his soon coming stay
As we announce and teach of him Often the very rocks have moved Moving yet bringing much in their place Wondrously opening up for us The fountain of his grace
Our words go forth in his name With his power and truth Our hands have lifted men’s hearts Have brought forth his healing on all And set us all, his disciples apart
Now returning to our Rabboni and Lord Recounting all that we have done Recalling our works in his name We are humbled by his wondrous gifts And know from him all this came
Soon going to these towns himself Bringing his words and works and love With his Healing Power and Holy Word Humbly we again follow for we know That surely it is he, the Holy One Dear Jesus: Send me forth as I pray With the strength and gifts you give To prepare a place in my world Where I too can speak of you Where my trust in you prevails In your name I ask for your grace That your power will bring light To all those who accept That the path becomes straight That I may well proclaim your word That your name be welcomed And your love be seen in my life So that when I return to you You and I will together rejoice
