This gospel reflection is based on Mark 14:12-16, 22-26.
My Upper Room
For over 1000 days we have followed Now arriving in triumph and cheers As Jerusalem shouts out with adulation Now we seek to gather and prepare For our Passover meal is very near
Where do we go Lord to prepare? Why have you chosen me to seek? Sent forth to find and to arrange To find and see that all is your plan One known only to you I must meet?
Now I seek a place suited well to serve To find the one who has the key To find this place he has prepared My joy in this seeking is now complete A joyful task entrusted by him to me
Found as he said is this special new place Surely part of his plan now unfolds We gather around him in joy and in peace A Passover like no other is this As we sense our new future foretold
For one time has passed and another is nigh With joy I know I will soon sit with him And my Passover night will be complete But as we gather in this newfound place Am I prepared fully for this journey to begin
Together at table once again this night We celebrate each other as our prayer is raised up We’re filled as ever with memory, joy and peace Yet now his blessing this night, this time, it differs As he breaks the bread and he shares the cup
Our minds and hearts are now opened to this truth For now what was wine and what was bread Are now his Body and are now his Blood And in this knowledge our joy in truly complete As we become one with him through this gift of love
Dear Jesus, help me better live and to truly love As I receive this Eucharist from above May my life be broken and shared with others As I receive and carry forth Your Body and Blood
