Who is this of whom God's voice like the wind speaks out Who is this for whom the sky and the heavens open Who is this upon whom the dove descends from above Who is this for whom the prophet proclaims his unworthiness Who is this who comes with signs from heaven yet humbles himself as us Who is this in whose presence my spirit is stirred with longing
What kind of man is this of whom I now run to tell my brother Peter What kind of man is this whose mere presence seems to stop time itself What kind of man is this whom I and James and John feel compelled to follow What kind of man is this whose voice lifts my heart like no other What kind of man is this whose mere presence lifts me up What kind of man is this whose words flow like honey into my soul
Is this the One of whom the teachers said was to come Is this the One who will free us all from our bondage Is this the One who will lift our burden of sin Is this the One who will bring peace and bounty to our land Is this the One for whom we have longed since Abraham
How is it that He comes not with servants nor armies How is it that He comes not with riches nor splendor How is it that He comes as man, yet not as other men How is it that He says He leads us to His kingdom, but where How is it that as the prophet says: He will baptize us with the Spirit How is it that He comes already knowing our hearts
Why am I compelled to follow and to be with Him Why am I so moved and joyful when I hear His voice Why am I running to tell my brother and my friends about Him Why am I willing to leave all I have without fear and follow Him Why is it that not everyone is following Him
All I know is that His words heal me and lift my heart All I know is that in His presence I can feel the Spirit of love All I know is when I hear Him I have never felt this moved All I know is that I am now filled with both peace and joy All I know is that I must follow and tell everyone of this Jesus
I too am not worthy to stoop and loose the thongs of His sandals.
