The end of our fiscal year, June 30, is almost upon us. This is also the time of year when personnel changes are most likely to happen. That certainly is true for us. Deacon Andy Ferguson has served as Administrator/Business Manager of our parish for over 15 years. He will be retiring from that position on June 30. His presence in the office will be missed by me, both personally and professionally. It is important for all of us to realize that he will still be serving our parish as a deacon, and so you will still be seeing him on weekends.
Within the office, Sue Miyashita will be moving from her part-time admin position in the Faith Formation Department to a full-time admin one for the parish. She will be taking up many of Deacon Andy’s purely administrative tasks. This means that our Faith Formation Department will be advertising for a part-time administrative assistant.
A bit more of a surprise to many will be the moving on of Peyton Thomasson. For the last two years, she has worked out of our Lake House, guiding the EDGE program for our middle school youth. We have been greatly blessed by her positive, spirited, and prayerful presence. She has truly brought a sincere and faith-filled spirit to our parish community. She is moving on to a ministry that she had considered many years ago. I think it will be a great opportunity for her continued growth as a spirit-filled young woman. And I like to think that we have helped her grow to the point where this will be a beautiful experience for her and those she will be serving. This means we will also be advertising for her replacement.
Change is something we may not particularly enjoy, but it is a certain thing in life. I thank God for Deacon Andy and Peyton and for Sue, as she moves into her new position. Please keep them and all our staff in your prayers. It is they who help me as I seek to be your pastor and shepherd. I could never do it without them.
