Weakness Prayer
I am often like a feather on the wind Blown to wherever it pleases Often away from the rightful way By forces all around and difficult to resist Pushing me away at times of weakness From the direction you want for us
Regardless of my aim or desire I’m oft pushed toward unwanted places Away from the truth and light which you taught Toward events and worldly circumstances Foreign to your holy Word And into events and places apart from you
Regardless of my best life intentions Forces of weakness often move me into the dire Nudging me away from your light Into conflict and dark misdirection Away from the path of righteousness As the winds of ire conspire to pull me down
Resisting this dark wind, as so I must do To avoid its force, its push and its pull I often tire and weaken and lose my strength Yet I know I should not give in to the other And stand against this wind shielded by your love Knowing you are there at the moment I call out
For you who have given all your humanity for us Only asking that we follow and believe You will deliver us from all that harms For you have gone to the Father as foretold Your words and life have brought us righteousness In order to live in the light of your love
Dear Jesus, protect us from all that harms In this frail, risky, and unsure life For youhave taught us well the law of love Which we are tasked here to always live We know youare at the right hand of the Father Thank youfor interceding for us As we humbly and thankfully strive to live in your light
