As I was sheltering in the basement of the Lake House with others who were at the church when the tornado warnings were flashing on our cell phones, I found myself amazed at the impact of this monster storm—Hurricane Florence. The bulk of the storm was in upstate New York, but here we were, still feeling its influence. The warnings and dangers were real. One person was killed by the tornado in Chesterfield County. The Church will likely be responding to these events in the near future, and we will let you know once plans are in place.
Meanwhile, it certainly threw us for a loop! I was getting prepared for my first session of
Hebrew: A Language of Faith and Beauty. By the time you read this, that will have started on Wednesday morning, but the first
Monday session will be this coming Monday, September 24, at 7:00 PM. Sometimes our timetable is not really in our control.
Let us continue to pray for those whose lives have been affected much more deeply than a changed schedule. For some, it will be a terribly long recovery.
