On July 1, prayers were answered as Fr. Renier (pronounced like Mt. Rainier) Supranes arrived at St. Mikes. While he has been here barely three weeks, he has been such a blessing and help.

I know we will all get to know him better, as the year passes, but here is a note from Fr. Renier, in his own words...
A Letter from Fr. Renier Supranes
If I had to choose one word to describe my life, I would choose 'blessed.' Looking back at what I have been through over the past few years of my life, I would say that it has been challenging yet full of wonderful learning and memorable and fun moments. The best thing that I appreciate most in all of these things is that I realized the presence and love of God in my life and my priestly ministry. Indeed, I am truly blessed.
My story began when I was born to Rene and Roberta Supranes, in our home at Igang, Pototan, Iloilo, Philippines. I am the third eldest of eight children. My family has never failed to show me the meaning of love and respect. They have always been my inspiration. I owe my educational foundation to my mother. I still remember how she had been so strict in tutoring me how to read and write. It makes me smile every time I think about her gentle pinches, my constant protests, and my endless shedding of tears.
My desire to priestly vocation was kindled and developed through the influence of my uncle priest, Rev. Antonio Supranes. Fr. Tony, along with other significant people in my life, provided guidance and inspiration to my seminary formation. On March 26, 2012, I was ordained a priest by the Most Rev. Jose Corazon T. Tala-oc, D.D., the present Bishop of Kalibo.
The priesthood is gift—a life of grace. It can be truly difficult at times, however. Nonetheless, I take courage and strength in the Lord's promise that the Holy Spirit will 'guide, remind, and teach me all things' (John 14:26) so that I may do well in my ministry.
Now a decade after my ordination, the Lord has sent me to St. Michael Parish to continue my priestly ministry. Ever since I was a seminarian, I have had a very strong devotion to St. Michael the Archangel. Many a time, the Archangel made me feel his reassuring protection and guidance. I believe that it was St. Michael who led me to where I am and what I am today. I will not ask for more, because the blessings and graces I have received are innumerable.
I thank God for everyone he has sent me as blessings in my life. I want to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to Fr. Dan and the rest of the parish staff for their very warm welcome. I am equally grateful to all of you, the lovely members of St. Michael Parish. You are all the best! May St. Michael continue to bless and pray for us.
