St. Elizabeth parish continues to grow. Eight new households have registered and the number of children is also increasing!
Twelve students (grades 4-8) from the Umoja (refugee) community have finished the Seton Home Study School program which began in October. Classes were held on Saturdays during the school year with instruction in functional English and Math, and will resume in the Fall.
One student plans to attend the Fairfield Middle School International Baccalaureate Program in the Fall.
One student has completed two years of daily instruction, Sept-May, and plans to attend Cristo Rey High School in the Fall.
One student is currently attending J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and has received a $1,000 scholarship for the summer session!
"My Story in My Voice" is a new quarterly speaker series highlighting stories of members of St Elizabeth parish, their journeys of faith and what it means to be an American. Cathy Woodson and Scholatique Karemera shared their stories on April 16 after the 10:00am Mass.
St. Elizabeth Catholic Church Centennial (1923-2023)

St. Elizabeth parish recently welcomed Sr. Mary Mwangi, SJT, who is assisting with Swahili-speaking families, meeting with adults while the children are in Religious Education classes on Sunday mornings. She travels to St. Elizabeth's from New Kent and is also available in the church office on Wednesdays. Sr. Mary is from Kenya and is a Sister of St. Joseph.
The April Centennial Event was a breakfast provided by the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) on April 23 after the 10:00am Mass. St. Elizabeth Religious Education team held an Easter Egg Hunt for the children.
St. Elizabeth parishioners were invited to attend the Eucharistic Miracles of the World exhibit at St. Michael Church on April 29-30. Notices and a flyer were included in the parish bulletin.
